Creating gardens is no new feat for me – it’s been my chosen job for over 18 years.  And chosen, is the rather apt word for it.  Not too often can anyone say they do a job for the sheer passion of it.

From a young age I've always had a love for the outdoors with a keen interest in gardening and all things plants even getting a greenhouse one birthday in my early teens.

Successfully running the garden build company Living Gardens for the past 10 years with my business partner Monty Richardson, has seen us physically create hundreds of gardens; from my own designs, or contracted out for other designers.  However with a wedding looming, and the creaking rugby-knees, I decided it was time to concentrate souly on design.  Where my passion truly lies. The accolades of medal places at RHS Hampton Court, to numerous awards at BBC Gardener’s world, are the sure reminder the hard work pays off.

I studied garden design at Myerscough College, and went on to get my degree in Garden Design from the University of Central Lancashire in 2005.  This gave me the building blocks to start out, and time and experience built the rest.  To where I am today Nick-named The Hairy Gardeners by fellow show garden designers, we caught the BBC’s attention at Gardeners World Live in 2017 and featured on the show that summer with our award winning ‘It’s Not Just About The Beard’ show garden.  This summer sees me make (the first APL to show twice) my return to the APL avenue with my design ‘Inspiration In The Raw’ – and filming has already begun for a feature on the BBC this summer. A far cry from a 21-year-old Peter, who set out on a solo round-the-world trip, of culture, learning and development.  I have to credit the trip with giving me the confidence to begin designing and building my own gardens.
But back to 2018 and my personal life sees me complete (I must say, almost complete) a renovation on our new home in Withnell, an engagement in Fiji (well, that was 2017, but who’s counting), and the exciting prospect of our summer wedding.  Mix in a small (lot of) gin from our vast collection, a meal out and a good Marvel film, and that’s almost all there is to know.

That dream space could be just a coffee and a chat away. Give yourself the garden you deserve. Let’s create something wonderful.
